This is Martin Luther on a stick.
Lots of people in Minnesota are Lutheran. Also, lots of people in Minnesota love the state fair, where foods of all kinds are deep friend and served on sticks. Nothing quite makes us chuckle like the face of a local hero on a stick. (Another example of this phenomenon is the late-August-2009 Twins game where they passed out cardboard “Joe Mauer on a stick”s.) This particular gem was passed out at my (Norwegian Lutheran) college on Reformation Day (aka, October 31), with the inscription “Sin boldly…but believe more boldly still” on the back. Awesome. I laugh about it every time I come home on break.
